It’s hard to not feel a bit sad after seven years with a show. But right now, more than anything, I’m just hoping they set the season right with this episode. I’d hate for the last memories of Buffy to be glaring, unanswered plot holes.

Spoilers below, don’t nag.
Interesting. A lot of stuff to like, but so much of the action and plot hinged around poorly built story.
So, the pros:
-Spike vs. Angel
-DnD session
-No superpower for Xander
-Spike’s death
Cons:
-Almost everything involving the slayers fighting and being awakened. It takes a seasoned slayer 5 minutes to dispatch one ubervamp not so long ago, but now fresh slayers can kill scores of them each? Ooooookay
-Anya’s death. So fast and so little attention
-The axe, revealed to, yep, be a cheap plot device.
About all I can think of now. I’m torn. It’s not as bad as it could have been. But it should have been better.
How is the axe a cheap plot device? That could have been any Slayer artifact - Willow just used it as a focus.
What other “slayer artifacts” are there?
When the bad guys bring an item to town that proves the key to defeating them, an item that the good guys had no clue even existed, it’s a cheap plot device.
And my, it was so well hidden.
Yes tears were shed.
I can’t fucking believe it’s over. I was stunned how Anya died(though not surprised w/ her contract) and super stunned how and that Spike died.
The series could continue, didn’t think it could but the ending did leave me wanting to know where do they go from here.
I don’t know if the 24 finally can live up to this Buffy one-truely awesome.
I just walked around the block. and cried…again.

Lots of tears here. My only real gripe is that I wanted an hour of aftermath.
I’m very willing to overlook the fact that Sunnydale geography got very weird at the end there.
Why am I not surprised there is a Hellmouth in Cleveland-would have been better to level that city.
I just hope there is 2-3 more years of Angel which bleed into a Buffy/Angel movie.
edit-also was the Spike to Angel thing a way to throw people off or is he really going? I know dying means nothing on Buffy/Angel but just curious.
a) there was a hellmouth mentioned in clevland during the “Wish” episode
b) “I’m drowing in footwear!” makes me think spike sanshus’ and angels gets to brood

They just showed some clips from the finale on the UPN news and there was some eye leakage on my part. Hard to believe this is really OVER.

Shit. Well, it’s done, eh? It was a nice send-off after a sometimes rocky season. The episode felt a bit rushed, but it had lots o’ laughs and lots of sad bits. I thought Angel’s exit was especially well-handled.
great “shoes” catch. Though it would make sense that Angel gets the shaft-Spike is a champion now and wanted his soul. Interesting to see how he comes back which unless it was a major red herring, Spike is.
Thank you Mutant Enemy for making the end of this once-great show something that doesn’t bother me much at all! What a crappy season. Make that crappy two season. No build up or aftermath for Anya’s death. No resolution for the First Evil itself. Poor setup for the final fight. At least I’ll always have seasons one through five.

Wow…after the first half I thought that was pretty bad. I wish they had gone into battle the first half and let the second be the aftermath. This episode just seemed really sloppy.
I hope they were lying about Spike going to Angel. I always thought Spike going out in a blaze of glory for good would be a great way to end his character,and there it is. Pretty satisfying way to finish him up.
And it was was cool that Sunnydale got destroyed.
Sometimes it’s hard to resist just posting, “Oh, shut the fuck up” in response to negative Buffy comments…but I resist.
I thought this was a fitting end to an amazing show. I would have loved a 2-hour finale, but this got the job done. Actually, I think when I watch the last two episodes back to back it’ll feel a lot like I got a 2-hour finale.
I do wish that Anya’s death had gotten a little more attention. It would have been nice to let Xander have a moment with her before she was gone, but that’s not how it goes in life. This show has never really gone for that sort of thing.
Also, very nice that the little bit of humor Xander could find in Anya’s death came at Andrew’s expense.
