Okay, last week me and my girlfriend were bored around 10 pm and started watching the show boston legal, we both heard good things so we gave it a try and we both liked it , so we watched it again tonight and it was hysterical, i find this show highly entertaining, i’m just rambling right now but i was wondering if anyone else has caught this show?
Yeah, the show is kind off this “year” because they’re running shows that weren’t aired last season. It seems like the producers are splicing in stuff with their new cast members into the old shows from last year, and it’s kind of jarring…
Still it’s a sharp bit of show and Spader and Shatner are always gold no matter what…
Denny Crane - cucu for coco puffs…
I enjoy the show, but in all honesty I only watch it for two reasons… Denny Crane and Alan Shore. Sure they are bizarre characters that often border on idiots, but damn if they don’t make me laugh. I’ll watch the other court cases because there can be some good TV found in them, but if Crane and Shore would leave the show - so would I.

I watch it with me girlfriend as well. But its simply not as good as the 8th season of the practive. Spader was brilliant in that. He is merely good in this.
Plus the plots and the characters are getting a bit too preachy for my liking. The new additions to the second season are good but some of the stuff with shatner and spader (always smoking cigars and giving us the “moral of the episode” routine at the end, with Candice Bergen somewhere in the background in certain scenes, nodding approvingly or shaking her head in dismay) simply isnt doing it for me.
My gf seems to dig it but if it wasnt for her I doubt I’d be watching it as often as I do. Wish I could find season 8 of the practice somewhere.
I’m resuscitating this thread because I just have to talk about the guilty pleasure that is BOSTON LEGAL.
It’s over-the-top, hilarious, and truly some fun T.V.
I love how David E. Kelly just said, fuck it, let’s make a legal show that doesn’t really deal with, you know, legal cases.
I mean the last episode had one of the main characters chopping off a priest’s fingers, for god’s sake. I’m going to take a wild guess and say that’s not standard practice.
I can’t be the only person enjoying this.

Really like this show too. The Shatner is Hilarious.
Though he does look more and more like a garden gnome in each successive episode.
I can’t classify this as a guilty pleasure, because of Alan Shore, and to an extent, Shirley Schmidt and Paul Lewiston. These are well-written, solid characters, and when they do tackle legal issues, Kelley does an excellent job of presenting interesting sides to things.
Hell, I’m even begining to like Brad Chase and Denise Bauer, who were flat characters when first introduced.
And, of course, there’s Denny Crane. And we need more Garrett Wells.
But mostly, it’s James Spader’s performance as Alan Shore.
I guess the reason I classify this show as a guilty pleasure is because of it’s laughable disconnect to how the real world works.
I doubt shooting somebody’s kneecaps would go without repercussions in real-life.
I missed this week’s episode(overslept…I work a night shift), so I hopped over to abc.com thinking, “It’ll be ok, the major networks air all of their prime time stuff online these days.”
But not ABC.
I can watch Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Ugly Betty, Six Degrees or The Nine.
I watch precisely three shows throughout the week…and all of them air within two days of each other.
Heroes and CSI: Miami on Monday…and Boston Legal on Tuesday. That’s it.
NBC puts up all of their prime time shows online…why can’t ABC?
Well, last episode had the peeping tom guy suing coho for slander/defamation of character (which ended up dismissed).
Also, it was revealed that michael j fox’s character died in brazil during his operation, and there was a holiday subplot about the hospital losing his body-parts.
Oh, and shatner may be the father of his midget girlfriend-- tune in next week for the result.

Nothing new from Spader this time?
Jerry got into touble again so Alan had to get him off of perjury charges (Jerry lied, saying he was pro-death penalty). It looked very bleak for Jerry (Alan said they would lose) but as always Alan pulled off a miraculous closing for the ages to pull out the win. Alan was also with Denise when she found out Daniel died so he offered to tag along with her to see his remains. On the balcony at the end of the episode he told Denny it was his loss he never knew the guy.

Oh, that Alan Shore…what a character!
Love this show. Spader and Shatner have some great chemistry and some great one-liners.
I don’t consider this a guilty pleasure because that would imply it’s bad, this isn’t dreck like Baywatch.
Shore and Crane are well-written characters and the show has a steady social activism that has to piss conservatives off somewhere. That makes me happy.

I’ve just started watching this show (on episode two of season one) and I have a question. Does Rhona Mitra’s character do anything? Right now all she’s doing is just looking hot and that’s it. Am I missing a joke or something? Or does she actually become a character and do things?
Rhona Mitra spends a lot of time looking hot and eventually goes bye-bye with Rupert Everett.
