Angel (David Boreanaz) and the gang are made an offer they can’t refuse when they are given the opportunity to take over Wolfram & Hart and obtain all of the firm’s secret and powerful information. Meanwhile, Angel has a chance to change the future for his son Connor (Vincent Kartheiser), who is physically and emotionally lost and wandering through the city.**
I’m looking forward to seeing if this new direction for the show will be worthwhile, or something that just alienates fans in an attempt to pull in more viewers.
I hear at the end Angel passes out after fighting Conner to the death, and when he wakes up he is in Tokyo. He calls the Hotel and they send Fred to get him. Fred shows up with a wedding ring on. She is now married to Lorne. Angel has been missing for two years… wink

I hear there’s actually a nuclear bomb in LA, and there’s a 24/Angel cross over. And then they kill Angel’s wife, and conner get’s kidnapped 3 times, and … well you get the point
What is this wildfeed that I always hear about? Is it online or on TV and how can I see it. I would love to watch this show early, or any other for that matter.
The Wildfeed is what the national networks use to broadcast the shows to the local affiliates. The use the old C-band satellite signal, so if you know the frequency, coordinates, and time of the broadcast anyone can see it with a standard C-band (read BIG) satellite dish.
The wildfeeds are usually recapped and posted on the web.
They are also often encoded and posted to newsgroups, kazaa, ect.
Edited to add: The Wildfeed is done about 24 hours before broadcast. Since Buffy is broadcast in Canada 1 day earlier than the US the Wildfeed is actually done 2 days before the US broadcast. But Angel isn’t broadcast early in Canada (it’s actually almost a week behind) so the US Wildfeed is used. It takes time to write up the wildfeed or encode it, so you can get access to the Buffy episodes 1+ day before it airs in the US. But only several hours usually for Angel.
Good episode. Would love to figure out the following things:
1 - What *did* go on with Gunn/panther. Is he manimal now?
2 - Do they now have binding W&H contracts?
3 - If VK is contracted for next season, which I believe he is, how is that going to play out?
and
4 - Why did they all get in the limo in the first place? The only thing I got was they were pretty wishy washy in their reasons. Motivation? Meh. But a good setup.
I don’t think VK will be around next season as a regular - one of things James Marsters said was that Spike couldn’t join Angel unless they lost a cast member, for budget purposes.
If this show doesn’t get another season I will fucking kill people. It cannot end this way.
WTF is up w/ Connor? Nobody but Angel has a memory of him. This is not good if Angel ever wants to have a relationship w/ him. I would have to guess W&H put new memories in his head or something. that’s not going to make Connor Happy w/ Angel. And if Angel gave up on his kid to give him a normal life that’s not like him. Only thing I can think of is that growing up in a hell dimension killed his son’s spirit and he could not be changed, which is unlike Angel.
What was the thing Lilah got from Angel? something to open up a portal or something?

Man, Angel sure does like remembering stuff that other people won’t… first “I Will Remember You” from Season 1, and now this development with Connor… somehow, I don’t think that giving Connor another lie to work through might be a good idea (what if some other interdimensional faction decides to undo what Angel did?), as a lie is a lie even if it is a good one.
All in all, I thought it was a fitting end to this season; the gang can actually do some good with their new setup.
And what’s up with Angel and the pocketwatch? Something tells me he now knows exactly when the shit will hit the fan in Sunnydale…
As for Gunn and the panther, my first thought that maybe J. August Richards could pull off T’Challa in a Black Panther movie… but then once he showed up at the end, I figured he got the secrets of the White Room stuck inside his head instead.
Okay, either I’m stupid and I just don’t get it, or the Connor twist didn’t make sense.
First of all, Angel did slit Connor’s throat, correct? And the memories of Connor were wiped from everybody except Angel and apparently Lilah. And Connor has a new family now, correct?
Okay, so did:
Angel not really kill Connor, and the evil powers wiped everybody’s memories, and then implanted new memories in Connor and his surrogate family? This would almost seem to work, except for the fact that they’re talking about Connor’s high test scores. You can brainwash a human, but I’m pretty sure you can’t brainwash an SAT test. Plus, Connor’s problem seemed to be the fact that his years in the Hell dimension had wiped out his capacity to love anything. If all it took was a simple memory charm to erase this damage, what was the point of giving him the new life? Couldn’t they have replaced his painful memories with fake memories of all his happy days with Angel just as easily?
or did:
Angel actually kill Connor (thus fulfilling the prophecy after all), triggering some Wolfram and Hart magical spell which rewrote history a la the creation of Dawn, placing the infant Connor with a surrogate family that would love and raise him as their own? This would almost be more plausible (for the Buffyverse, anyway), except for the temporal paradoxes it would create. For example, if Connor was never a part of Angel Investigations, he would have never knocked up Cordelia, who would have never given birth to Jasmine, who would have never almost caused world peace, which would have never prompted W&H to offer their services to Angel, which would have never rewrote history. And so on, and so on, and so fucking on.
So what exactly happened? I feel incredibly stupid right now.
As for other thoughts:
–Yeah, this show damn well better continue.
–Still not sure how I feel about this new direction. Conceptually, I don’t like it, and I’m afraid that introducing this massive office might destroy the close group dynamics of the team, which is easily my favorite part of the show. Then again, people said that “Angel” would never work as a series, and Whedon proved them wrong.
–So Gunn is an animorph now? Or did the higher powers just find a new host? It almost seems like their covering their asses just in case Charisma doesn’t come back next year, making another character capable of having the visions.
–I have NO clue how that watch will play into the Buffy finale, but I’m dying to find out.

I am guessing whatever angel did to connor, he incapacitated him. And used wolfram and hart to rewrite history and place memories in connor’s mind or travel back in time or something. I don’t think the how is important, but I really did like the ending. Very good way to give Connor what Angel did not have the chance to give him.
I am not sure about this new take. How are things going to work in this office setting? They should be able to stop all sorts of shit from happening now with all the W&H resources!? i really want to see what kind of stories arise in the next season. WB- you better fucking renew this show.
I’m just glad Connor is gone. It became increasingly obvious that though it might’ve seemed like a good idea to bring an “adult” Connor into the show, they really didn’t know what to do with him. Despite what he represented, he was superfluous. And annoying, in an Eddie Furlong sort of way.
It also occurs to me that I really don’t care if Cordelia comes back.
I think I like the Wolfram & Hart angle, but the introduction seemed like a ham-handed status quo shake-up. The whole season built up to the Jasmine arc, and then this gets dumped in the last episode “because they earned it”? I do think it’s got loads of potential though (you know someone on the team will get corrupted), so I hope the show gets to keep going.
Rather interesting on the whole. I do agree with Dave in some way that the Jasmine story arc was a bit hastily done away with but this whole new one quickly makes up for it. Can’t wait to see what goes on next. It’d be nice to get some of these questions answered on what Gunn saw up there or how Connor was integrated into a new life. Speaking of which, did the whole ‘Connor taking hostages’ thing seem a bit too over-the-top?
Anyway, great finale. Here’s hoping that the WB renews for a 5th season.
Neat. I liked it alot. I’ve never been a Connor hater, in fact I’ve defended him, but I’m glad to see him go. He’d be wearing out his welcome. I’d rather they come up with better stuff for the existing characters (esp. Fred) than bring Spike over, though. Very interested to see how this all plays out next season, and to see what the deal is with Gunn, but it’s a little bittersweet because I feel like Cordelia has been totally screwed this season (or we’ve been screwed out of Cordelia). I was really grooving on that character in the first half of the season, then she became the evil Cordy, which wasn’t really her, then spends the last stretch in a coma. All just as she’s starting to be really interesting. I certainly hope she’s not out permanently. And I can’t see why Joss would want to bring any more characters on board, when he has this great lineup that he already doesn’t have time to give the attention they each deserve.
