so, is anyone still watching this? or is everyone preoccupied with the drastically underwhelming season of The Sopranos?
Underwhelming?
I’m loving it. All the character development pays off sooner or later, and in the meantime, I’m just enjoying the focus on the secondary characters.
As for Alias…I never watched it, but wasn’t this series always kind of lowly-rated/little-seen? I seem to recall EW saying so even as they did a cover story on it.
Yes…still watching. My wife is addicted to the show. I thought last night’s ep. was especially good. Less exposition, more character development and plot movement…
Alias quickly became a samey show. Every week she went to do something and poke her lips out even further. Even though it made Jennifer Garner a big actress, her acting still needs work and the show has some serious hammy elements.
This is the type of rare show on television that knows how to gives the fans what they want. Very much like Buffy, ever now and then, something so big happens on the show that just makes fans wet their pants. This season’s been a little heavy on having a drastic change happening nearly every week, but it keeps the viewer interested in seeing how the show will possibly ever be able to top it.
If this show is at all in the low ratings, it’s because it can be a difficult show for newcomers to simply jump in and know exactly what is going on right away. People don’t have the patience anymore to jump into a story halfway through, and try to figure out for themselves how the story and its characters arrived at a particular point. I came in late in the first season, stuck it out with one or two episodes, and got fully caught up pretty quickly. Now it’s in my top three faves.
I’ve been watching/taping since the pilot. The first season was excellent, as it brought a fast-paced, actiony-type spy drama to network television. This season is good, but the focus is more on character instead of plot, which is not a bad thing. What’s upsetting is the lack of screen time/storylines for the supporting cast from the first season…
Can I get some Alias love in this room?
I just watched my tape of Sunday’s episode, and enjoyed it a LOT. Marshall got to show his stuff, AND expose the forces of evil to SAMMY HAGAR! That was a lot of fun.
Anyway, I hope I’m not the only one watching this.
I watched this more often last season. I watch Angel though instead of this, but now since Angel is moving to Wednesday (DAMN YOU, WB.), I’ll be watching Alias I guess.
And Sunday night’s episode was pretty good.
I love Alias. I just jumped on this season. I’ve always heard good things about the show in the past,but never watched. Now, I’m all about it. It reminds me of the show La Femme Nikita,which I loved. Anyways,she’s hot and she rocks. Can’t wait to see her as Elektra.
I enjoy it. Originally, when I saw TV promos for this thing, I went, “Now there’s a show that’s bound to get sweeped.”
After watching an episode, I was hooked. Definately one of my fav shows for Sunday night. Indeed, I’ll agree that the plot lines get wonky sometimes but for the most part, it’s compelling.
And I’ve got to admit - there are some mighty fine action sequences.
Just like Agent 86, I had no choice but to drop Alias once Angel was moved to Sunday. But now that Buffy’s undead ex is switching to Wednesdays, I’m back like vertebrae.
Haven’t been able to see as much as I’d like frown
This season is a little dull. The thing the first season had going for it was momentum. If I were a Hollywood-type I’d describe it as propulsive. This season is limp in comparison. And all those visits to Derevko’s cell are getting repetative.
“We need you to help us.”
“I’ll only help you if you fulfill this not terribly unreasonable demand.”
“We can’t…okay we can.”
Tune in next week when Lena Olin asks for some fuzzy slippers…
Alias is shit.
What? Last night’s ep. was great. What a twist at the end. I actually think this season is working up better than last. True, the first 2 or 3 shows were complete catch-up, they’re really starting to hit some nice strides.
i’m still digging the show a lot.
Sloane is such a great bastard. and after all her assistance, i’m really hoping Irina turns out to fuck everyone over.
they just need to kill off Syd’s annoying roommate.

Syd and Vaughan finally went on a “date”, dinner in Paris. bad idea (big surprise). Ariana Kane was having Syd shadowed looking for dirt on Jack. they did manage to get out of it though, unrealistic as it was.
Jack met with Irina to “brainstorm” about why he was being hounded so bad by Kane. they determined that she was having an affair with one of the Alliance guys, the one that Sloane killed (so he could replace him, i believe). they eventually revealed her true intentions.
Sloane also revealed he’d been implanted with a transciever in his neck that let the Alliance hear all his conversations. he paid a guy (Malachai from Children of the Corn) to create a scrambling device for it, then shot him
a lot of this, including Kane’s involvement, led to the last scene of the episode: Sloane reunited with his wife. happily. he said to her “We did it. We escaped.” though i certainly don’t think that means he’s leaving…
dave, you’re right: they need to kill off francie. (syd’s roomate). sheesh. send her back to malcolm in the middle.
