Looks like good things are ahead for season 3. I thought it was a decent episode, just basically setting up the situation Sydney now finds herself in. The show looks better than ever and it’s great to see them have more money to work with - they must have spend half of season one’s budget on that explosion. It’ll be interesting to see how this new relationship to Vaughn and his wife will play out. And it’s definitely cool that Marshall gets to do some real missions this season. I still think Garner’s gorgeous, and I’m liking the higher level of action. Can’t wait for next week.
Ok, I love having this show back. Its really the only show that has me jazzed this year to watch TV.
I wished tonight’s episode had been two hours. I was left wanting so much more.
The only puzzle I had was wondering if Syd was remembering what happened to her when she woke up in the hospital. The voices in the blur sounded German or Russian to me. Everything else seemed easy enough to explain or wait on.
Bought time this is back. Yay.

…Wow, glad the show is back, though I, too, wanted this to be a two hour. A lot of set up for this one, so we did get more questions than answers, and am glad that Jack is a free man - no more of the visits from prison scenes for me. The speech and the performance from J. Garner regarding the whole rig Vaughn a new one was great - I am sure that Vaughn will get a change to redeem himself.
I wouldve liked it more if I didnt read spoilers. Oh well. Next weeks looks awsome!

I’ve watched this show since episode 1, and I thought the premiere was weak. It felt a lot like the Super Bowl episode to me, they just rushed way too much info into an hour and the episode suffered because of it. I also normally have no problem suspending disbelief for the show, but at least make an attempt at not having ridiculous plot holes that you can drive a truck through. Dixon is the Director of that division of the CIA? 18 months after defecting from SD6? Sydney forces them to release her Dad from jail but then he’s suddenly an agent again, without her even asking?
They’d better show later in the season a specific reason her Dad needed to be in jail to further the show. To have him in jail only to be instantly released is silly unless something that happened in jail furthers some plot point in the future. Even then they rushed the conclusion too much.
The Sloane explanation of the machine was weak, and Sydney supposedly buying it was weak. So a part of the machine spontaneously combusted the occupants of a church, but the machine as a whole gave a message of peace? Riiiight.
I like that they didn’t explain Will yet, that we don’t know about her Mom yet and especially that we don’t have an update on Sark yet. Sark was really becoming one of my favorite characters by the end of last season and his weasel sell-out of Sloane was great.

Dixon being the leader was rather odd, and I agree that they should have stuck with the old guy. He was always yelling at people and pissing them off. I liked him.
Syndey’s father in jail made sense to me and the way Sydney got him out was funny. I didn’t think he would be released in this episode, though.

I agree with the Jack thoughts, it would have been a fine storyline (if a little too close to the storyline with her Mother last year) if Jack had rotted in jail for a portion of the season. I just don’t understand the point of putting him in jail only to get him out 45 minutes later unless it somehow impacts a future storyline. If it doesn’t it’s just shoddy writing.
I think Sloane is hiding something too, I just thought they could have tried a little harder with what the Rimbaldi machine did. I assume that he was lying about the final result (he damn well better have been or it would be enough to get me to stop watching the show), but his ridiculous story was the best fib he could dream up? The man that hatched the plan to prove that his wife had been taken and that the people who took her were taunting him? Sloane is better than that.
I have high hopes for the season, but the premiere was underwhelming.

Pretty decent episode last night. From the promos it looked like Vaughn’s wife would show up earlier, but regardless I’m just glad that NSC guy is GONE AWAY - I can’t stand that actor.
And it does look like the whole Rimbaldi stuff was moot. And what kind of high tech security vault would have a password like “tophat”??
I really hope that isn’t the end of the Rimbaldi stuff. That was one of the most interesting aspects of the show.
Vaughan’s response to Syd’s tongue-lashing at the end of last ep made me feel a little better about it. And his wifey will surely add a new wrinkle…
Looks like Will is gone for good (barring guest appearances). Can’t say as I’m depressed.

As in regards to the password being tophat, I can see it because it was encrypted as another to set explosives off if used incorrectly.
I thought the way Sydney’s parents were communicating was a little lame, but I like how they have a shared FTP server. wink
The way they presented Vaughan’s wife was really lame and I have this feeling that the cat fights between the two women are going to annoy me.
Oh, and Will will (haha) be back. If everyone else has come back in some sort of form, he will.
I thought this episode totally made up for episode 1’s lameness. We got:
The return of Sark.
The revelation that Sark’s Daddy was the one Syd killed.
A tie between Syd’s memory loss and The Covenant.
Vaughn’s awesome talk with Sydney, and his admission that he doesn’t regret moving on.
Most importantly, we got the Jack/Sloane confrontation which ruled the episode. “I personally would have found it anticlimactic.” That whole talk pretty well proved that the Rimbaldi angle isn’t dead and that Jack at least realizes Sloane is full of crap.
From interviews with JJ Abrams I don’t think we’ll have to worry about the cat fighting as it doesn’t sound like that’s where he intends for that relationship to go. I still think that the show is moving too quickly at times (Vaughn reinstated already was just too much, let it simmer a few episodes at least), but I like a lot of what they’re doing. They barely explained away Will, but that was enough. They’ve got the presence of Irina back in the show without actually having her show up (and is Jack the most p-whipped man ever?). They released Sark back into the wild, and they gave us a severed human head. That’s good TV.
I liked the “evil doctor” scene where he said “You were my favorite. You never broke.”
It seems to me that they’re doing a wolverine-type angle with Syd. It’ll prolly turn out to be she was some sort of killing machine for 2 years and has no recollection of it. Just a theory.
I was expecting something big to happen tonight (as tonight’s episode was the big 47) but alas, nothing did. Oh yeah, if the need arises, I’ll write up a cliff notes version of the night’s episode as in Canada we get it at 7 P.M. instead of the normal 9 o’clock you Yanks are used to.
I was hoping that huge explosion at the beginning had something to do with Rimbaldi, but alas. And I’m getting big vibes that Vaughn’s wife is a mole.
I gotta say I was dissappointed with last night’s ep. It just didn’t do much for me. But my wife and I are both thinking as well that Vaughn’s wife is a double agent.
Oh, and if she is a senator’s daughter, why does she have a bloody British accent? That throw anyone else off, or are we just weird here thinking that?
